Exterior & Colors

The 2024 Kia Sorento should continue measuring 189″ L x 75″ W x 67-70″ H, as with the previous lineup. It also comes with 16" to 18" wheels. The 2024 Honda CR-V is slightly smaller at 185″ L x 74″ W x 66-67″ H but does offer 17-19" wheels. Both SUVs offer a variety of exterior color options to choose from.

Interior Design & Seating

The 2024 Kia Sorento offers seating for six to seven people, depending on if you choose the second-row captain's chairs. However, the 2024 Honda CR-V only has space to hold five people in two rows.

 Infotainment & Features

The 2024 Kia Sorento includes a standard 8" touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker audio system, HD Radio, six USB ports and Bluetooth. With the 2024 Honda CR-V, you can count on a smaller 7" touch screen, a USB port, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa and a four-speaker audio system.

Cargo Capacity

As a three-row SUV, the new Sorento offers 12.6 cubic feet of storage room in the rear. By putting down the back seat, you get 38.5 cubic feet, or you can put down both back rows to get 75.5 cubic feet of room. The new Honda CR-V offers 39.3 cubic feet in the rear and 76.5 total cubic feet with the second row down.

Towing Capacity

If you plan to tow, there's a big difference between the two models. The 2024 Kia Sorento can tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds, while the new CR-V is only rated for 1,500 pounds. If you plan to take a camper, trailer or boat away, that extra 2,000 pounds changes everything.

Drivetrain & Suspension

With both SUVs, you get standard front-wheel drive. However, you can upgrade to all-wheel drive at any time if more capability is needed.

Engines

The 2024 Kia Sorento can be equipped with a 191-horsepower 2.5L inline-four or a 281-horsepower 2.5L turbo-four. Both of these work with an eight-speed automatic transmission. With the 2024 Honda CR-V, there's only the 190-horsepower 1.5L turbo-four with a CVT available. However, both of these SUVs have hybrid powertrains you can also pick from.

Performance & MPG

We are still waiting for some fuel economy numbers, but can compare both models with the previous year. Expect 24/29 mpg with the Sorento and the base engine or 22/29 mpg with the turbo configuration. The Honda CR-V is estimated at 28/34 mpg, in comparison.

Ratings & Reviews

We are anxiously awaiting safety ratings for both SUVs, although we expect they will both be highly praised. Looking at what top automotive sites think, Car and Driver says, "The upcoming 2024 Sorento's most dramatic updates happen up front, where its updated headlights and grille now look less grumpy and more like the design language from the all-electric EV9. A marginally updated interior gets a bigger screen but looks largely the same as before." Car and Driver also states that the CR-V has a "higher starting price than many of its toughest competitors [and offers] no excitement."
